Saint Michael School offers
strong academics consisting of: Religion, Reading (phonetic/whole
language), Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Computers,
Spanish, Physical Education, Art, Library Studies
Elementary Program (Grades 1-4)
Our elementary curriculum features daily religion classes. The
Spaulding Reading Method is used to teach reading phonetically. Teachers
use a traditional teaching approach with a variety of opportunities for
students to learn from one another. Students are exposed to a variety of
different activities in order to spark the various gifts God has given
each of us.
Middle School Program (Grades 5-8)
The middle school is divided into two teams,
consisting of two main teachers. One team consists of the fifth and
sixth grade. The other team is the seventh and eighth grade. While each
teacher teachers his/her own religion class, one teacher on each team is
responsible for all the Math and Science while the other is responsible
for Social Studies and Language Arts. Writing is emphasized throughout all curricula.
Technology is a large part of the overall curriculum. While
the students have one scheduled period per week in the computer lab,
many projects are coordinated in cooperation with the technology
teacher, the media specialist and the classroom teacher. The integration
of technology and library research skills creates an
exciting learning experience for the students and gives first-hand
examples the value of collaborative learning..
